Story 1 - No Accounting for Cousins
George's elderley cousin phones him in desperation after her husband has died in an office fire. Georeg and Muriek travel down to sort it out and find that there is a lot more to itthen they had imagined
Story Two - FluorescentSignals
George imagines that fluorescent lights flickering are giving him warning signals of impending danger. He tests this theory on several occasions but are they coincidences?
Story Three - Memories on a train
George meets an escaped paedophile on a train and at one point the man describes an incident of a number of years ago when two little girls were kidnapped from a primary school and brutally murdered. Their bodies were never found, but George's efforts help the escape to be foiled and the man's accomplices to be apprehended.
Story Four - Vegetable Plot
George at last is allocated an allotment plot for which he has been waiting several years. It turns out to be a big disappointment, but subsequent events eventually turn out exactly as George had planned.
Story Five - The Fever
George is busy at work and is determined to fight off the fever from which she is suffering, but is eventually forced to leave work and attempt to make his way home which eventually does. But the fever is not finished with him after he manages to get into bed.
Story Six - Framed
George's boss attempts to frame him for the assault of two little girls at a public swimming baths. George is innocent but is worried that his alibi might cause him to lose his job.
Story Seven - The Car Park
George is late leaving home to drive to the station car park, so has to park his car in an extension section which has only just been prepared. When he returns to the car park after his return journey from work he finds that his car is missing and the space occupied by vintage Rolls-Royce.
Story Eight - The Barber's Shop
George is having a day off and decides to get his hair cut at a local barber's shop, but the photographs in the window seem odd and George decides to investigate, but gets involved out of his depth.
Story Nine - Petty Theft
George is involved with the local Homewatch group in his road. There have been rumours of gangs thieving from houses at night by capturing pets, particularly cats, out at night and blackmailing the householders to open the doors enabling the gang to enter and steal property.
